Los Angeles, Mar 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In Hollywood you don’t need money; you can make a dream out of nothing. Indeed, the saying holds a lot of truism in it. The 82nd Academy Awards is the perfect example for that. The Kodak Theater witnessed a glittering evening with an array of shining stars gracing the prestigious 82nd Academy Awards. Some cried out of happiness and some wore grim faces as their expectations were shattered, as the results for Oscars 2010 were announced. To start off, ‘The Hurt Locker’ which had been through a string of debates and controversies, made it real big by winning in over 6 categories that included the Best Film, Best Director (Kathryn Bigelow), Best Original Screenplay (Mark Boal), Best Film & Sound Editing along with the Best Sound Mixing award.
As expected, Jeff Bridges won the Best Actor for his movie ‘Crazy Heart’ and Sandra Bullock picked up the award in the Best Actress category for her performance in ‘The Blind Side’. In the Best Supporting Actor category, Christoph Waltz was awarded for his outstanding role in ‘Inglorious Bastards’. Mo’Nique picked up the best supporting actress award for her movie ‘Precious’. Joachim Back’s ‘The New Tenants’ made a close win in best short film category as a live action film. The duration for the movie is only 21 minutes.
James Cameron’s dream movie ‘Avatar’ made it in two categories- namely Best visual effects and Best cinematography. ‘Up’ was recognized as the best animated movie while ‘Loghoroma’ was selected to be the best animated short film. Barney Burman, Mindy Hall and Joel Harlow for ‘Star Trek’ won the award for the very best in Make Up.
