Oscar Tribute: Michael Jackson, Leslie Nielsen Honored, Corey Haim Snubbed

Feb 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Although actor Corey Haim’s untimely death shocked the entertainment world as well as his fans last March, he was not included in the Oscars Tribute last night which featured Celine Dion, and Halle Berry as they honored such names as Michael Jackson, Leslie Neilsen, and Lena Horne.

Corey Haim is best remembered as one of “The Two Coreys” who starred in ‘The Lost Boys’. Haim was also in ‘License to Drive’ and many other films in his short life. His image was not among those which were included in the Oscars Memorial.

Celine Dion sang the Charlie Chapin song ‘Smile’ as a tribute to Michael Jackson, who expressed many time before his death that it was his favorite song. Halle Berry gave her tribute to Lena Horne, and several other stars, directors, and important names from film which have passed on were remembered in the tribute.

Dennis Hopper was among the honorees, as was Leslie Neilsen for his part in films such as ‘Airplane’ and ‘The Naked Gun’. He had over sixty films under his belt when he died at the age of 84 last November.

The director of ‘Bonnie and Clyde’, Arthur Penn was also included in the memorial. Some of his other work was ‘Alice’s Restaurant’, ‘The Chase’, ‘Night Moves’, and ‘The Missouri Breaks’. He died at the ae of 88 in September.
