Oprah Winfrey London, November 17 (ANI): Oprah Winfrey’s production company bosses have apologized for providing misleading information relating to Dubai.

A recent episode of Winfrey’s daily U.S. talk show had welcomed Dr. Lamees Hamdan from the United Arab Emirates for an interview.

Lamees, a Dubai mother, owns her own successful range of cosmetics.

During the show, the audience was informed: “Thanks to this country’s (U.A.E.’s) rich oil supplies, the government provides its citizens with free water, electricity and health care. The best part? No income tax!”

However, the details were incorrect, since Dubai citizens don’t receive state help with utilities, even though they do not pay the income tax.

Now, a representative for Harpo, Winfrey’s production company, has apologized for the mistake.

“It was never the intention of the Oprah show to misrepresent the people of Dubai,” the Daily Star quoted the spokesperson as saying in a statement.

It added: “Dr. Hamdan appeared live on our programme to speak about her personal life experience as a citizen of Dubai. We apologise if any of our viewers were offended.” (ANI)
