Oprah’s Oscar Special - Past and present Oscar winners and nominees talk about their leading roles

Mar 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Oprah opens the show by remembering one great moment in Oscar history; Halle Barry takes the Oscar as the first African American actress to ever win an Oscar.

Now in a charming setting Halle and Penelope Cruz sit and chat about their Oscar wins. Penelope won an Oscar for her role in the film Vicky Christina Barcelona and Halle for Monster’s Ball. Penelope conveys to Halle how great her performance was in Monster’s Ball as Penelope laughs at just saying the title of the film. Halle and Penelope both want their audience to know the sense of humor they find in themselves. Something not too many people see on screen since the roles they choose are more challenging and serious. When Halle asked what “P”, as Penelope signs her letters and emails, what she would be doing if not acting and without hesitation she would be a dancer. Penelope is nominated for her role in the movie Nine.

Avatar the highest grossing movie of all time brings the creator and cast-mates Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington together again to find the secrets for the success of the movie, which Cameron says started from paintings. His biggest challenge in the movie was to not over accentuate the characters. James Cameron started out as a truck driver as a career choice after seeing the movie Star Wars it changed his life and career path. Images and ideas for movies of the Star Wars revolution were already spinning in his head and waiting to come to life, those ideas and images are coming to life on the screen for all of us to enjoy.

Shay Jay, the hotspot in Hollywood for the stars to hangout is where Ben Affleck and Jeremy Renner sit to chat about the film The Hurt Locker that stars Renner. In The Hurt Locker Renner’s character is se nt to Iraq to disable bombs for the US Military. Growing up in Modesto California and performing small theater roles to he feels he had the role of his lifetime at the age of 39, for The Hurt Locker for which he is nominated for an Oscar.

Bringing Fatal Attraction stars together on screen again for the first time Michael Douglas and Glynn Close discuss the roles of their characters. Glynn says when reading the script she was fascinated, but disturbed with the rabbit scene. Michael asked her if playing the role of a villain bothered Glynn and she told him she never saw her character Alex as a villain. The original ending was to have Alex, Glynn’s character committing suicide and framing Michael’s character for her death. Glynn had problems with that ending, changes were made and 6 months later the final scene was filmed. The movie was a huge success and had men reconsider adultery.
