Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network Garners 1 Million Viewers In Debut

oprahJan 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Celebrity talk show host Oprah Winfrey’s cable network, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) made its debut on Jan 1, Saturday, with a footfall of approximately one million viewers, as per reports revealed by Nielsen Co. The network which is actually a joint venture of Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications premired with a massive response from the viewers who were eagerly waiting to have a glimpse of their favorite talk show host’s newest venture. The cable network was launched at 12 noon at Saturday.

As per reports, the Oprah Winfrey Network replaced Discovery Health on cable systems all across the country and garnered a viewership of one million, thereby boosting its predecessors footfall by a whooping 389 percent. The massive feat clearly shows the popularity that still lingers in the mind of the ardent Oprah followers. As per initial reports, the recently launched network is available in 67 percent of the homes all across the nation.

According to the officials, OWN ranked third amongst all advertisement supported cable networks catering to the audience of 25-54 year old. Only USA Network and ESPN ranked higher. OWN premired “Season 25: Oprah Behind The Scenes” as a part of their initial launching process thereby pulling off more than one million viewers.

As per the reports revealed by Nielsen, on Sunday the network once again garnered an average audience viewership of 968,000 between 8 pm - 9 pm. The premiere episode of “Ask Oprah’s All Stars” was aired on the network on Sunday comprised of a panel discussion featuring Dr. Mehmet Oz, Suze Orman and Phil McGraw, pulling off a viewership near to a million. It is evident that the network has made quite an impression among the viewers and is ready to capture the nations market.
