Jan 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Last night a new chapter of talk show queen Oprah Winfrey was unleashed on her popular show that went on to surprise viewers who never knew that Oprah Winfrey has a half-sister named Patricia. Yes, the hostess on the Monday episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” unveiled the face of her half-sister with whom she herself was re-united last year. Mother Vernita Lee was also present at the show witnessing the re-union of her two daughters.

From what followed after the tearful re-union of the sisters it came up that the half-sister Patricia whose last name has not been revealed, was given away for secret adoption by their mother Vernita Lee soon after the child’s birth. Vernita Lee had given away the baby for adoption she at that time she could not afford to raise another child along with Oprah Winfrey all by herself. The incident dates back to 1963 when Oprah Winfrey was only 9 years old. Patricia recalled how she had spent the early years of her life shuttling in between foster home which included both the good and bad ones. Patricia herself became a single mother at the age of 17.

Determined to unleash her roots she started her hunt for her origin at the age of 20 but soon dropped it. However, it was only after her son Andre insisted her in 2007 to discover the family tree, she took it all with a strong sense of determination, accomplishing her mission last year. It was in November 2010 that Oprah Winfrey was told that she had a half-sister. The half-sister also has a daughter named Aquarius. Incidentally Oprah Winfrey also had another half-sister named Patricia who passed away in 2003.
