Oprah Winfrey honored at Daytime Emmys

Los Angeles, June 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Oprah Winfrey’s contribution to daytime television has been appreciated at the 38th annual Daytime Emmys. Oprah stepped down as the host of the highly successful talk show Oprah Winfrey after a quarter of a decade.

Oprah was awarded the Crystal Pillar Award for changing the face of daytime television. Oprah did not attend the event and her pre-recorded speech was played to the audience at the event. In her acceptance speech, Oprah apologized for not being present at the event. She expressed her delight in receiving the recognition for the work that she has done over the years. She paid tribute to her television team for contributing to the success of the show.

Oprah said that, “We are sorry we couldn’t be there to celebrate. On behalf of the entire team, we thank you for honoring our show, we thank you for 25 years. This show has served as a platform to enlighten and entertain our millions of viewers… it has been a phenomenon that [none] of us could have imagined in our wildest dreams.”

Several celebrities and stars showered praise on Oprah for the work that she has done over the years. There were accolades from Ellen DeGeneres, Gladys Knight, Celine Dion, Dr Oz and others.
