Oprah Winfrey calls an end to her show in 2011 after 25 seasons

oprah Chicago, Nov 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A very tearful and emotional Oprah Winfrey on Friday announced that she will take her iconic talk show off the air in 2011 at the end of its 25th season. After reigning as the Talk Show Queen for 25 years Oprah Winfrey came to this very difficult decision, as she now wants to focus on her own channel.

“I love this show. This show has been my life and I love it enough to know when it’s time to say goodbye,” Winfrey told viewers at the end of her live broadcast. “Twenty five years feels right in my bones and it feels right in my spirit. It’s the perfect number, the exact right time.”

Winfrey planned to announce the date for the final episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” during a live broadcast, according to her production company, Harpo Productions Inc.

“She blazed a trail,” said Ellen Degeneres, a comedian who hosts her own daytime talk show, “Ellen.” “She will always be the queen of daytime.”

This amazing show started as a Chicago morning program, but soon the production evolved into television’s top-rated talk show for more than two decades, and it aired in 145 countries worldwide and is watched by an estimated 42 million viewers a week in the U.S. alone.

Even though she was born in a poor family in Mississippi, but by the dint of her hard work she is now a billionaire worth at least 2.7 billion dollars and is regularly ranked among the world’s most powerful women, celebrities and other media personalities.
