Oprah, Walters PS1m bidding war for interview with Madeline McCann parentsJanuary 26th, 2008 - 1:38 pm ICT by admin
London, Jan 26 (ANI): Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters are locked in a bidding war for an exclusive interview with the parents of missing British girl Madeline McCann.
The two leading chat show hosts are ready to shelve out 1 million pounds to get the Kate and Gerry on their shows.
The couple are also considering the offers, given that the money in the fund they set up to find their little girl is fast dwindling.
The Find Madeleine Appeal, which once stood at 1.2million pounds through public donations, is now said to be less than 400,000 pounds.
McCanns rep Clarence Mitchell confirmed that the couple were talking to reps of both chat show giants.
Weve been approached by representatives for both Oprah and Barbara. They want an exclusive interview with Kate and Gerry. We are discussing it but it doesnt mean we are doing it. Nothing has been agreed, the Daily Express quoted him, as saying.
Mr Mitchell however stressed that the couple was not considering it for the amount of money involved.
We are not in the market for selling Kate and Gerrys story to the highest bidder. And we are not impressed by big names. We talk to media from all over the world.
Kate and Gerry came under fire for considering selling movie and book rights to their story but Mr Mitchell said they would do so only if it was constructive and helpful in the search for Madeleine or led to a long-term change in procedures to help find missing kids. (ANI)
