Oprah tops Forbes ‘Power List’

New York, Jun 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) This year’s list of Forbes most powerful celebrities has been released. The talk show queen, Opera Winfrey, tops the list.
The 56-year-old Oprah Winfrey was removed from the top spot last year by American actress Angelina Jolie. However on this year’s list, Angelina Jolie has moved to the 18th position.
Forbes compiles the list, and it’s based on the total income of the celebrity over the previous 12 months as well as the popularity of the celebrity. The popularity is collaborated with the artist’s web references, broadcast mentions, magazine covers and press clippings.
Opera was a distant first with earnings of $315 million last year. Beyonce Knowles who earned $87 million followed her. James Cameron, the director of the hit movie “Avatar” was third with an earning of $210 million.
The top ten list is completed as follows; Lady Gaga came fourth with an earning of $62 million, the disgraced Tiger Woods came fifth with earnings of $105 million over the period of 12 months, Britney Spears was sixth and U2 came seventh. Sandra Bullock was eighth with earnings of $56 million whiles Actor Johnny Depp was ninth on the top ten list with the earnings of $58 million. And Madonna occupied the last spot.
