London, June 03 (ANI): TV host Oprah Winfrey will receive the Minerva Award at the California Women’s Conference in October.
California’s first lady Maria Shriver will honour the talk show legend at the event, which celebrates powerful women who drive change in the American society, reports the Daily Express.
The organisers of the conference have chosen the TV titan for serving “on the frontlines of humanity”, especially for setting up her Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa and her Angel Network charity.
Winfrey announced the closure of the Angel Network charity last month as she prepares to step down from her The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2011. (ANI)
