Oprah Disappointed At Acquittal of Former School Matron

Oct 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Oprah Winfrey, talk show host and CEO of Harpo Productions has stated that she is “profoundly disappointed’ at the news that the woman who was accused of sexual abuse at the South African school for teenagers has been acquitted on all charges.
The former matron of the school, Tiny Virginia Makopo was arrested and charged with fourteen counts of sexual assault, which included accusations of fondling and kissing the girls from the school. She was also charged with assault on one of the girls and a fellow employee at the college.
However, according to a report from ‘Sapa News Agency’, the prosecutor in the case, Etienne Venter stated, “She was found not guilty on all of the charges,” and went on to say that they would not be filing an appeal.
The forty million dollar school was opened by Winfrey, who said that she was shaken to the core by the scandal in a place which she hoped would be a refuge.
