wall-street-2Sep 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The sharp economic crash of 2008, may have been unfavorable to a major fraction of the world, but it came up as an inspiration for the renowned Hollywood film maker, Oliver Stone, to make his new movie. After “Wall Street”, (1987), the ace Hollywood director, is back with its sequel “Wall Street2: Money Never Sleeps”, starring Michael Douglas once again. The movie is all set to hot the plexes on the 24th September.

Oliver Stone believes, that making this sequel in the 1990s would have made more sense from a director’s perspective, as the memories of the first part was still lingering fresh in his mind, with the old set of audience who were keenly awaiting his next work. However, he decided to wait till a time when even the younger generation could relate to the film. Thereby, the 2008 recession gave him that perfect opportunity and background, where the new generation, who is not aware of the first part of the film, could relate to its sequel.

Michael Douglas, who is back on the silver screen after “Solitary man” (2009), has brought back his most memorable signature character, Gordon Gekko ones again. However, this time the focus has been equally dispersed between the two other characters; his daughter Winnie (Carey Mulligan), and her fianc, Jake Moore (Shia LaBeouf). The plot of the new movie revolves around the economic downfall of 2008, and colored with multiple shades of emotions like revenge, greed, love and regret. Gordon Gekko, who was disgraced in the first part of the movie, predicts the upcoming financial doom and tries to warn the financial community about it, with the help of Jake Moore, who aims to detect the culprit, responsible for his mentor’s death.
