woody-allen1May 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Woody Allen attended the premiere of his latest film ‘You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger’ at the Cannes Film Festival in France. Though the famous American director has not won any awards at the film festival, his movie has generated mixed reviews from the critics. Woody Allen was at his wittiest best during the press conference for the movie where is was asked about old age, death and his recent movie. The director called old age a ‘lousy deal’ which has no benefits. His sense of humor was straight out of his own movie characters’ dialogues. He said that old age doesn’t make one wiser or smarter, that its a ‘grim enterprise’ and suggests that people should avoid it if they can.

On being asked why he doesn’t act in his own films anymore, Woody Allen blamed that to his old age too. He said he was too old for playing the male lead now, though he would love to sit in a restaurant with the likes of Scarlette Johannson and look into her eyes. When asked why he chose to shoot the film in London, he said that New York would have been costlier to shoot in than London and that the summers here were cooler.

His latest venture ‘You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger’ has a stellar starcast that includes Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, Antonio Banderas and the stunning Freida Pinto of Slumdog fame. The film revolves around a struggling writer (Josh Grobin) who is eying his neighbor (Freida Pinto), his wife who is (Naomi Watts) attracted to her boss (Antonio Banderas) and her parents (played by Anthony Hopkins and Gemma Jones). The typical Woody Allen themes which have romance between older men and younger women are presented in new light in this entertainer.
