May 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Renowned heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio has died aged 67.
Just moments ago, the following note was posted on the official website ronniejamesdio.com by Ronnie’s wife Wendy Dio :-
“Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.”
Ronnie James Dio had spoken about his battle with stomach cancer in the month of April this year when he attended the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles. The 67 year old singer had been on chemotherapy since the end of last year. Speaking about the experience he said the process was painful and he found it difficult to even do basic tasks like eating these days.
