Nusrat brought me closer to god: Shekhar Kapur
November 6th, 2011 - 2:16 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS) Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur says working with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in “Bandit Queen” brought him closer to god.
“Working with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was the closest I got to god,” Kapur wrote on microblogging site Twitter.
The late music maestro had composed music for Kapur’s 1994 film based on the life of dacoit Phoolan Devi, who was gunned down in 2001.
The composer tuned soulful numbers like “Sanware tore bin”, “Mora saiyaan to hai pardes” and “Sajna tere bina”.
Kapur says during the recording of the music most of the communication was done by singing legend looking into his eyes.
“Nusrat saab said, ‘I see the film emotion in your eyes’ and he would look directly at me when he sang for ‘Bandit Queen’. Amazing experience,” Kapur further posted.
