NRJ Music Awards: Shakira, Lady Gaga And Justin Bieber Named Winners

J The NRJ music award ceremony was held on Saturday night, which was the 22nd of January, in Palais des Festivals et des Congres at Cannes, in France. The event was quite high on celebrity quotient and singers like Shakira, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber won some coveted awards. The NRJ Music Awards takes place annually at Cannes and was created by the radio station NRJ and the television network TF1.
Colombian megastar Shakira’s huge hit “Waka Waka” which was the 2010 World Cup anthem, won her the “international Song Of The Year” award. Shakira also won the title of the “International female Artist Of The Year”. Shakira was dressed in black; Alaia, a designer hailing from Tunisia, designed the outfit. She attended the event with her parents and also gave live performances of her hits “Loca” and “Waka Waka”. Usher bagged the trophy for “International Male artist Of The Year”.
David Guetta won two trophies too, they were the “Hit Of The Year” for the song “Club Can’t Handle Me” and he also received the “NRJ Award Of Honor”. Justin Bieber bagged the “ International revelation Of The Year” award and Lady Gaga and Beyonce won the trophy for the “Music Video Of The Year” for her “Telephone” video. Lady Gaga and Beyonce however did not attend the event. The Black Eyed Peas won the award for the “International Group/ Duo Of The Year” and also for “Concert Of The year”. Will.i.am and Apl.de.ap were present at the ceremony to receive the awards on behalf of the band.
