London, Jan 22 (IANS) Judy Craymer, the creator of “Mamma Mia”, is now developing a new musical based on the songs of pop band Spice Girls. It will be titled “Viva Forever” and will feature the band’s greatest hits.
“I want to create a unique celebration of the band and its music, with its own flavour and joyful message. It is important to me that the excitement, style and humour of the Spice Girls is well represented on stage,” telegraph.co.uk quoted Craymer as saying.
She was persuaded by Geri Halliwell, formerly known as Ginger Spice, to work on the idea.
The British producer is collaborating with Halliwell and Simon Fuller, one-time manager of the Spice Girls, along with Universal Music to develop the stage show, which is expected to open here in the next two-three years.
Victoria Beckham and the other former Spice Girls will also work on the project.
“Mamma Mia”, featuring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, became a Hollywood blockbuster by grossing $600 million worldwide.
