Dec.16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Nota is one of the bands that is participating in NBC’s show “Sing Off” for a recording contract with Sony. The band hails from San Juan and is said to be a revelation in the world of music. The main members of the band are Johny Figueroa, Edgar Rios, Jose Rodriguez, David Pinto, Ludwig Henderson and Juan Eli Diaz. The band has had the chance to sing in different Capella groups over a period of 15 years.

The band opened up the show on Tuesday evening with ‘I’m Yours’ by Jason Mraz. The performance was quite heart touching and the whole act was consistent throughout as far as the harmony was concerned. As the audience know by now, The Puerto Rican band does have outstanding ‘vocal percussion’ since they don’t use any instruments and vocally produce the sounds of bass, keyboard, percussion etc. The fans also say that among all the other present bands, none other managed the consistency as well as Nota did. However, Nota and every other band did seem to have problems when it came to choose a song for yesterday’s performance, that was meant to be ‘a voice only treatment number’.

The Nota band has an all-male ensemble, and the show also gave the viewers a peek in to their lives. It showed a Nota member helping his wife fight swine flu and a Solo member’s kid elaborating ‘how they had overcome violence and low income and no funding’. Nota has made a fan-following for itself, who say that the gifted members bring in ‘a blend of salsa, hip-hop, r&b with a hint of jazz’.
