Norman Corwin passes away

Los Angeles, Oct 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Radio icon Norman Corwin has passed away at the age of 101. Relatives say Corwin passed away at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He is known for penning several radio programs for CBS in the 1930s and 40s during the era where the radio was the most popular entertainment media. The report sailed to state the cause of death.

Corwin was considered one of the most influential figures behind the popularization of radio in the early 1900s. He received recognition for his role when he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1993.

Renowned Hollywood writer Ray Bradbury described Corwin as “the greatest director, the greatest writer and the greatest producer in the history of radio.”

Some of the projects that Corwin wrote during his career included “Lust for Life,” and the program “The Plot to Overthrow Christmas.”

Winner of a Golden Globe and two Peabody Awards, Corwin also received an Academy Award nomination for the project “Lust for Life.”

Corwin once said on YouTube that, “We’ve beaten this monster, Hitler, the war goes on, but what are the questions? And the questions were, who have we beaten? What did it cost to beat him? Have we learned anything out of his war? And is it going to happen again?”
