January 6th, 2011 - 2:20 pm ICT by Sampurn Wire
Film: No One Killed Jessica
Director: Rajkumar Gupta
Cast: Rani Mukerji, Vidya Balan
Tomorrow being the first Friday of the New Year, eyes will naturally be riveted on the Bollywood big screen. And all set to burn it is No One Killed Jessica featuring Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan. The two actresses have been painting the town red for promotional work related to No One Killed Jessica and the audience are more than eager to catch up with their Meera Gaity and Sabrina Lall act starting tomorrow onwards.
Inspired from the real life story of the Jessica Lall murder case that took Delhi by shock and surprise on the 29th of April 1999, No One Killed Jessica is however Rajkumar Gupta’s fictional take on incidents following the model and socialite’s murder. As Rani Mukerji earlier notified, her’s is the only character in the film which has no resemblance to real life. However if one watches the film closely, every other character, beginning from Sabrina Lall to the different witnesses, share strong similarities to the original people involved in the Jessica Lall case.
In a statement to the media, Rajkumar Gupta had confirmed that his movie’s title has been taken from an issue of the Times of India daily which came into circulation after the accused in the Jessica Lall murder was let free. It is to be remembered that it was this headline which forced the Indian judicial system to reconsider their decision and give lifetime imprisonment to the killer Manu Sharma.
No One Killed Jessica is being eagerly awaited not only for its hard hitting subject but also for the comeback of Rani Mukerji to her original form. Everyone will agree with the fact that Rani Mukerji is a brilliant actress and No One Killed Jessica is a manifestation of this fact.
