Dec 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Christopher Nolan has brushed aside the rumors of Heath Ledger appearing in the third installment of Batman that has been named ‘Dark Knight Rises’. Reports were doing the rounds that the ‘Inception’ director would be using some of the unused footages from the Dark Knight in the new film. The news has been almost heartbreaking for the fans of Heath Ledger. The deceased star’s portrayal of the Joker had been one of the biggest draws of the 2nd Batman installment. Bagging a posthumous Oscar for the role, Heath Ledger rose to a stardom that he did not while alive.
While there were reports that Heath Ledger might just make a small cameo appearance in the third and last Batman film by Christopher Nolan, the director has revealed that his performance as the Joker will be contained in the 2008 blockbuster. He has also said that the script for the third film has not been finalized yet. There are also reports that Aaron Eckhart, who played the role of Two-Face, will also not be a part of the film.
While there are several rumors going around about the cast of the third film, various actors names have come up in the tabloids. The list also includes Joseph Gordon Levitt and Tom Hardy of ‘Inception’ fame. Some reports indicate that Tom Hardy will play the role of the antagonist. Christopher Nolan had also revealed to the media that he will not have the role of the Joker in the third film as it will be a difficult task finding the replacement for Heath Ledger. In ‘Dark Knight’, the Joker’s overshadowing of the superhero added the element of darkness and chaos that made the film receive some of the best critical reviews seen in recent years.
