No Emmy nomination for Jay Leno & Letterman, however Conan gets nominatedJuly 8th, 2010 - 11:34 pm ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt
Los Angeles, July 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a surprise twist of fate, Conan O’Brien managed to edge out Jay Leno from getting an Emmy nomination. Just some months ago, Jay Leno had managed to edge him out from hosting the late night show – The Tonight Show, and now it seems that perhaps the favor is being returned.
Another surprise was that David Letterman is also missing on the nominees list, even though he has been a regular on the list since the awards started in 1994. The Late Show with David Letterman had won 6 Emmy’s till date including a five in a row streak, which started in 1998.
Conan O’Brien is a contender for the popular award, even though he was the host of the Tonight Show, for even less than a year. Apart from him, one of the other nominees is “The Colbert Report”, which has managed to earn its fifth successive nomination.
Glee is also in the running for recognition with 19 bids so far, which includes a shot at the Best Comedy Series and also for its stars – Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele. It would have to challenge ’30 Rock’ for the best comedy award.
‘Mad Men’ “Breaking Bad,” Showtime’s “Dexter,” CBS’ “The Good Wife,” ABC’s “Lost” and HBO’s “True Blood” are also in the nominees list.
