“We have got the honour and privilege of being the official designers for Kanika Bali, the Miss India Deaf 2011 who will participate in the Miss World Deaf 2011 pageant to be held in Prague. It feels great to be a part of the world-level event,” Niket Mishra told IANS.
Girls from 48 countries are participating in the competition and some of the participation nations are South Africa, Poland, Russia, Bulgaria, Italy Cyprus, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Hungary, Germany, South Korea, Indonesia, Paraguay, the US, Israel, Ukraine, France, Denmark and Lithuania.
The designers have made four different dresses for Kanika, which she will wear on different occasions.
“For the ethnic round, we are making a dress inspired by banjarans. The flair short skirt will be teamed up with a choli-cut blouse in magenta and green colour and net duppata with gota work on it. The evening gown will see net asymmetrical layers in Lycra satin with orange hues,” said Niket.
“She will perform the talent round in an organza short dress in blue hues. We have given her a red short dress for the interview round,” he added.
The designer duo feels that Kanika is a hard-working girl and intelligent and will make the country proud.
“Kanika wanted to participate in a Miss India contest since her childhood. She is a hard-working and intelligent girl. Also, she is very good dancer and keeps herself updated with current affairs. She finds inspiration in her mother, who also helped her in the grooming session. She is looking forward to the competition and hopes to win it,” said Niket.
The designer duo launched their label Niket & Jainee in 2005. Since then, they have been part of many fashion weeks like the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour and the Orra Jewellery Show.
