Los Angeles, Feb 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Nicole Richie has confirmed that she is engaged to musician Joel Madden. She announced the happy news at The Late Show with David Letterman. As news spread, Joel confirmed his ‘engaged status’ on the social networking and micro blogging site Twitter as well. “Yep. i’m engaged. Very happy,” Joel Madden wrote on Twitter after the news broke. “Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But Thanks for the hooplah all the same.” He added, “P.s. thats why i love my family and friends. None of them are sources. All good tight lipped people who let us enjoy it! Thanks everybody”

The couple have been dating since late December 2006, and they are also parents to two children - daughter Harlow, who is 2 years old, and 5-month-old son, Sparrow. Nicole appeared on the David Letterman show and also showed off her large engagement ring. After the show was taped, she joined her friends at an up market restaurant ‘Abe and Arthurs’ and she discussed her upcoming wedding plans and details with her friends. There were rumors last year, also that they intended to walk down the aisle soon, but both of them had said that they didn’t want to rush into matrimony.
