Nicole Kidman Visits Haiti To Help Vulnerable Women

Aug 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Hollywood beauty and “Moulin Rouge!” star Nicole Kidman was recently spotted in Haiti helping out people as a part of her work as a goodwill ambassador with the United Nations Development Fund For Women (UNIFEM). The star who is married to country musician Keith Urban spent her whole day visiting a woman’s shelter in Port-au-Prince. The Golden Globe Award-winning actress in her interview to a reputed media source said that she is focusing on woman’s rights around the world and in Haiti she aims to bring attention to the unfortunate condition of women in the country.
Nicole Kidman in her interview said that she has always helped out needy people and added that its not what she gets out of helping the needy; even she feels that she can never put enough into it. The actress also said that the greatest thing her parents gave her was “social conscience”. The actress spoke with the locals and even visited the places where the earthquake rattled and created havoc. “The Interpreter” actress said that she is constantly trying to give voice to the women around the world, precisely women who are in need of help.
The actress also informed the media that women and girls were particularly left liable to injuries after the January earthquake, which killed around 2,30,000 people and left 1 million homeless. She added that she visited a temporary shelter for women and girls who experienced sexual violence and are at risk. The veteran actress has asked for support from all around the world to help these victimized women and support them by providing medical, legal services as well as counseling with livelihood training.
