Newcomer Kenny Wormald lands the role of Kevin Bacon in Footloose

kenny Los Angeles, Jun 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Newcomer Kenny Wormald has landed the role of Kevin Bacon in a remake of Footloose. The original movie was made more than 2 decades ago in 1984, and it is being made again by Paramount Pictures.

Paramount Pictures made the announcement about the star cast on Tuesday. Besides Kenny other members of the cast would include Dennis Quaid and the Dancing With the Stars champion Julianne Hough. Craig Brewer of the ‘Hustle & Flow’ fame would direct the movie and it would be released in theatres on the 1st of April 2011.

In the original movie Kevin Bacon is a character who is a rebellious person, who belongs to the city and who wants to dance in the town, where it is banned.

Earlier there were reports that Zac Efron of the ‘High School Musical’ fame would step in Kevin’s shoes for the remake, but he changed his mind later. Chace Crawford was also tipped to play the part of Kevin Bacon, but he also refused. Because of this, the project has been delayed twice.

Kenny Wormald is no stranger to acting. As prior to this he has already acted in the MTV series ‘Dancelife’.
