paradeNew York, June 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Fifth Avenue of New York City is gearing up to celebrate the Puerto Rican Day Parade today amidst wide fanfare. Like every year, even this year the parade is expected to be attended by millions of enthusiastic participants who are all set to celebrate their Puerto Rican heritage once again with a wide range of festivities lined up for the day.

One of the special highlights of this year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade is going to singer Marc Anthony who has been crowned the king of the parade this time around by the organizers of the event. Although initially the highly acclaimed musical artist was scheduled to only appear for a brief period of time in the event, his appearance was rescheduled after the title of king was bestowed on him.

It hardly needs to be said that all the large number of fans of the singer of Puerto Rican descent would make sure that they attend the parade to catch their favorite star perform. However, there is some disappointing news for the fans of actor Osvaldo Ross who quit the parade as its international godfather reportedly as to his conviction in a domestic violence case attracted the ire of critics who called for a boycott.

Meanwhile, this time around the Puerto Rican Day Parade would witness certain changes which includes a more stringent time limit and shorter route as well as new set of rules, among others.

However, the organizers have emphasized that the new changes would in no way hamper the true spirit of the event.
