700240-eva-longoriaSep 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Twitter is used by millions of users worldwide and a number of celebrities also use this popular micro blogging site quite regularly. In a new development a Twitter-based fund-raiser named ‘TwitChange’ is offering the Twitter addicts an opportunity to get personal with their favorite stars who use Twitter. The list includes over 150 media persons and celebrities. The initiative is aimed at helping out the distressed kids in Haiti. The campaign is supported by actress Eva Longoria Parker and it was originally planned by an Atlanta based activist and minister Shaun King. The concept of a Twitter Charity auction clicked in his mind.

He got the help from the “Desperate Housewives” actress who has over 700,000 followers in Twitter. However art first he was not sure if the actress really wanted to get involved in this kind of an initiative. However, later he was assured and could not stop praising the star. Within a day of the beginning of the on-line campaign which makes use of the eBay auctions over $75000 was raised which was pretty good. It is hard to say exact amount of the collection since the figure is going up every hour. Eva Longoria Parker personally thanked her fans and Twitter followers for their response.

The fans of celebrities like Justin Bieber and Demi Moore are responding nicely to this campaign and the trend is likely to continue. The money derived from the auction will be sent to the Miriam Center, which is a home for kids with physical disabilities in Haiti. Most of the Twitter users think this is a commendable initiative.
