Though the web was abuzz with the news of the two boy bands performing together for over a month, not many could have expected that they will be closing the prestigious award ceremony in such grand style. The Backstreet Boys appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show earlier this month with their former band member Kevin and announced that they will be touring with New Kids On The Block soon. The collaboration of the two groups on stage at the AMAs on Sunday, however, managed to exceed the expectations of the fans.

The performance started with the groups grooving to ‘Everybody’ which gradually turned out to be a mash-up with the New Kids On The Block hit ‘Hangin Tough’. Soon the group slowed it down for the Backstreet Boys number ‘I Want It That Way’ that was also performed recently on ‘Oprah’. NKOTBSB, as the two groups together are known, then notched up the tempo slightly for the New Kids On The Block hit, ‘Step By Step’. The audience had already got into the groove at this point and was seen mouthing the words of the songs.

The two groups moved smoothly and also got together for a dance performance that had the audience going berserk. They finished their performance with a unique version of the Backstreet Boys hit, ‘Larger Than Life’ that was complemented with some chanting by the entire 9-man NKOTBSB. The supergroup is scheduled to tour together next year.
