May 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Thanks to a Facebook campaign, as many readers know, Betty White was selected to host Saturday Night Live last week. It was reportedly a huge success, with a great rise in ratings, and fans all over the country expressing their joyful delight at her brand of comedy. Everyone seemed to love her, so much so that a brand new Facebook campaign has been launched, to have Betty White host the Oscars!

It was joked about by Betty White during a promo for the Saturday Night Live show which she hosted, by apparently her fans took the thought to heart, and were thrilled at the idea of the 88 year old being the next host of the annual event. A new Facebook page “Getting Betty White To Host The Oscars” has almost 70,000 fans since it’s launch late Sunday night, and another page “Betty White To Host The Oscars” has almost 20,000 fans already.

The night Betty White hosted Saturday Night Live, the show had it’s highest overnight rating in 18 months! The show was number one for the night, and topped all prime time programs on all major networks. SNL doubled the number one telecast in prime time, which was the NBA playoffs on ABC. With those numbers, and the fact that so many fans are already demanding for her to host the Academy Awards, one has to think that the Academy will most likely be considering her. Betty White’s agent, who played a very important role in getting her to host SNL told EW.com, “It is very flattering to hear that there is a movement on Facebook for Betty to host the Oscars. I try not to discuss hypotheticals with Betty….If offered…we will sit down or maybe even stand up and discuss if it is in her best interest.”
