July 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The fans of agent 007 have reasons to be disappointed. The upcoming James Bond movie featuring Hollywood hunk Daniel Craig has been postponed. The reason is the financial crunch that has plagued Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer. This could have been the third James Bond movie for actor Daniel Craig who has replaced Pierce Brosnan - the former James Bond actor in the franchisee. The upcoming film reportedly had the Mummy actress Rachel Weisz in the lead female role. The last 007 movie to hit the screen was Quantum Of Solace. It was also decided that Oscar wining director Sam Mendes of American Beauty fame would direct the spy movie. The never ending delaying from the producers have spelt doom for the movie that has been in the making for quite some time.
This was the 23rd James Bond movie and the fans had a lot of expectation from the movie. The script of the movie was written by the writer of the critically acclaimed Frost/Nixon, Peter Morgan. MGM is suffering heavily, what with the Hobbit a much anticipated prequel to the Lord Of The Rings going out of its hand along with talented director Guillermo del Toro. Initially the 23rd James Bond was slated for a 2011 release. Now that it has been shelved no one can say when it will actually be released.
James Bond has proved to be one of the most successful film franchisees of Hollywood. Most of the films under the franchisee have proved to be blockbusters. Hopefully the movie will be picked up by some other producer and this is what the fans are looking forward to.
