Neve Campbell There is bad news for fans of the series movie “Scream”. It has been reported that the lead actress of the first three flicks, Neve Campbell is going to step down from playing the character of Sidney Prescott. Nothing else has been revealed on the subject to give any wind of the reason for Neve’s decision, other than the fact that she has turned down the offer for the role when she was approached by director Wes Craven.

It is going to be really hard for us to enjoy an installation from the “Scream” stable where the charcter, on whom the whole series has been built upon is missing. How can “Scream” loyalist accept a Sidney -less environment in the movie. As writer of the series, Kevin Williamson expresses on his twitter post, “Trying to figure out a Sid- less scenario. She won’t do it. This sucks.”

Considering the popularity of “Scream 3″, it is pretty shocking that Campbell is not willing to be a part of the new set of trilogy with “Scream 4″. With “Scream 3″, the trilogy that had began with “Scream”, was put an end to. In its first week after release in 2000, “Scream 3″ had set up a record of sorts by opening at around 3,467 screens; this figure was later surpassed by the “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in 2001. The movie had managed to make a collection of $ 161 million world wide.

Though the movie turned out pretty well, everyone was of the opinion that it was losing its originality and getting more clich├ęd. “Scream” still remains the scariest killer thriller movie of all times undoubtedly.
