Nelly Furtado fed up of composing in English
August 11th, 2009 - 8:25 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Aug 11 (IANS) Canadian pop singer Nelly Furtado says that despite recording in English for 10 years she failed to write “passionate” lyrics in the language and now prefers singing in a Latin language.
Furtado got fed up of composing in English and began scribbling songs for her upcoming fourth album “Mi Plan” in Spanish - a language she learned at 14, reports younghollywood.com.
Furtado, whose parents are from Portugal, admits she prefers belting out songs in Spanish or her mother tongue.
“I have always adored performing in both Portuguese and Spanish - both Latin languages. I can emote better in a Latin language, so the songs have turned out more personal and intimate,” said Furtado.
“After 10 years recording in English, I hit a wall. I felt this was the moment to make the dream,” said added.
The album “Mi Plan” is scheduled for release in September this year.
