Speaking after receiving news of his induction, Diamond said he thought he may have been nominated sooner.

“I kind of figured they’d get around to me at some point,” he said.

To celebrate Diamond’s birthday and his forthcoming induction into the Hall of Fame, Sirius XM Radio recently announced that they were to re-launch ‘Neil Diamond Radio’, a music channel that solely showcases the music of the singer-songwriter.

The channel returned to the airwaves Jan 14 and is currently available on Sirius Internet Radio and through the station’s smartphone app for iPhone, Blackberry and Android users.

Despite his age, Diamond continues to play live and regularly releases new music. In recent years he has begun working with legendary rock producer Rick Rubin and back in October 2010 he headlined the BBCs ‘Electric Proms’ at London’s historic ‘Roundhouse’ venue.
