On Friday night, the crowd at the Boston’s Hatch Shell had reasons enough to be on their feet and ask for more, as their favorite numbers were dished out, one after the other, on the eve of the Independence Day celebrations of July 4th. American music icon and pop singer Neil Diamond took to the stage and sent the crowds over the edge with his rendition of popular songs like the “Sweet Caroline” and “America”, among his other songs. The special rehearsal performance of July 3, that was staged by Neil Diamond and his group was a very exciting one, complete with all cannons and confetti.

This year, the July 4 celebrations in Boston was no doubt enhanced because of the performance by Neil Diamond, alongside the fireworks show, the Boston Harborfest and the various other events.
If from the magnitude of success of the rehearsal it can be derived, it is a safe bet to say that the actual performance was even better and it thoroughly entertained all those who had flocked to the Saturday night’s event. The free Boston Pops concert was broadcast live from the Charles River Esplanade, and it surely was a treat with Diamond performing on the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular.

The concert was inaugurated with the national anthem, as is the ritual, and with a flyover of the Air National Guard’s 104th Fighter Wing and the Air Force’s 131st Fighter Squadron. The fireworks display closed the ceremony for the night. CBS network had the national broadcasting rights of the show and it was on air, starting at 10 p.m ET.
