NBC’s 30 Rock wins the 2009 Emmy for best comedy series

cast of 30 Rock Los Angeles, Sep 21 (THAINDIAN News) NBC’s “30 Rock,” a satirical take on life inside a TV variety show won the Emmy for best comedy series for a third consecutive year. The 3rd consecutive Emmy for NBC’s 30 Rock is ample proof of its popularity even in the internet age.

Alec Baldwin, the quintessential star of NBC’s 30 Rock won his 2nd straight Emmy for his portrayal of the without morals network executive. Tina Fey also won an Emmy for her character of Liz Lemon.

“We want to thank our friends at NBC for keeping us on the air … even though we are so much more expensive than a talk show,” said “30 Rock” creator and star Tina Fey, a sarcastic reference to Jay Leon’s new daily prime-time comedy show, which NBC says that is economically cheaper to produce than the 30 Rock show.

30 Rock is the behind-the-scenes satirical story of a fictional comedy show made at 30 Rockefeller Center, the NBC USP skyscraper in New York City. In all, 30 Rock won 5 Emmys, including an award for its writer.
