Jay Leno New York City, Jan 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There were some rumors that Jay Leno was trying to take over his earlier show ‘The Tonight Show’ from Conan O’Brien. But according to the latest reports from NBC, there has been no such deal. A new report says NBC has, in fact, not made a new deal giving Jay Leno the 11:35 time slot for the “Tonight Show.”

A USA Today report also contradicts earlier information that indicated that Jay Leno had sealed a new contract to host the show again at that time. Besides this, there were some other rumors also doing the rounds that next week is Conan O’Brien’s last week as the host of ‘The Tonight Show’. NBC reportedly had no comment on claims that Jan. 22 would “likely” be Conan O’Brien’s last day. NBC neither confirmed nor denied the claims.

TMZ had reported on Thursday that Jay Leno was guaranteed the 10 p.m. hour in his contract, and that by moving him to 11:35, NBC was in breach of his contract, which is why they needed to do a new deal. But with NBC’s clarifying comments on this issue, this rumor has now been given a complete burial.

Meanwhile Conan O’Brien tried to downplay the rumors that next week is going to be his last, as the host of the Tonight Show. His publicist told TVGuide.com that he’ll keep hosting the “Tonight Show” “until somebody tells him not to.” And as for rumors that next Friday will be his last show taping, his rep said, “we do not know that to be true.”
