Los Angeles, April 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Natalie Portman has played down the controversy surrounding her role in the 2010 epic movie “Black Swan”.

Natalie’s double in the movie, Sarah Lane, seem to suggest that the actress did not deserve the Oscar that she won because most of the dance steps in the movie were not performed by the actress.

Pop Eater quoted Lane as saying that, “Of the full body shots, I would say five percent are Natalie. They wanted to create this idea in people’s minds that Natalie was some kind of prodigy or so gifted in dance and really worked so hard to make herself a ballerina in a year and a half for the movie, basically because of the Oscar.”

Natalie has come out with her side of the story. Natalie who is pregnant with her choreographer fiancé Benjamin Millepied’s child said that she would not want to spoil the “beautiful thing” that she did with the movie with “gossip”. When she was asked to address why she did not acknowledge Lane during her acceptance speech, Natalie said that she does not remember what she said when she won the Oscar for best female artist. She covered herself by saying that she has not watched the video because she feels “embarrassed” to do so.

Natalie has also been defended by other co-stars in the movie.
