Khan, born in India, and apprenticed with American designer Halston as a teenager, and presented his debut collection in 2003. His father and grandfather designed clothes for the royalty in India, he designed them for celebrities in the US. Naeem Khan shared his views on style and couture. Khan’s clients are Beyonce, Marcia Gay Harden, and Princess Aga Khan. His collection is carried by Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus.
A little Asian influence , at his Fashion Week Spring ‘09, Khan presented a collection which was “inspired” by the Orient, but seemed to be straight from the streets of Shanghai. Interpretation included lots of obi belts, brightly colored embroideries and Chinoiserie out the wazoo.
Khan’s designs and collection, is how he juxtaposes textiles that are delicate and ornate with designs that are clean and simple.
