My second film will be a comedy again: Abhishek Sharma
December 12th, 2010 - 9:54 am ICT by IANSMumbai, Dec 12 (IANS) After an overwhelming response to his directorial debut “Tere Bin Laden”, Abhishek Sharma is getting ready with his next film which he assures would be a comedy again, but is not certain if it would be a satire.”I am looking into comedy as a genre for some time as a filmmaker. It might not be a satire. I am looking into comedy. I am excited about it. There is no other genre that gives you quick, loud and audible response. Yes, I am addicted to it. But whether it would be satire or not, I don’t know,” Sharma, 32, told IANS.
“The way ideas come to me, they are mostly in the comic genre. I think we will be looking into comedy at least in the second one,” he added.
The director, who has proved his excellent sense of humour, would love to exploit it more in his films.
“As an artiste I feel attracted more towards comedy not because of the success of ‘Tere Bin Laden’, but because I have a sense of humour and I think I can use it in my art. I generally like comedy as a genre, even as an audience,” said Sharma.
“Tere Bin Laden” is a satire where the story centres on a Pakistani reporter, Ali Hasan, who wants to go to America but runs into visa restrictions post-9/11. So Ali is stuck in Karachi working with a small news channel and covering trivial news when he meets Noora, a poultry farmer who looks like Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
The director, who would again team up with Walkwater Media for his next venture, has some concepts in his mind and would decide with his producer which one to shape up into a film.
“I have some concepts but I will have to decide with the producers what we all are kind of excited to do and then announce it in due course of time,” he said.
“It would take some time to have something concrete in my hand. I will have to start working on the concepts. And it takes time for a concept to become a script and a project,” said Sharma.)
