Chennai, July 25 (IANS) Denying reports that well-known south Indian comedian Nagesh was not keeping well, his son Anand Babu said he is hale and hearty. “My father is fine. He is looking forward to making more contributions to Tamil cinema in the years to come. I am surprised to hear that several hospitals here received repeated phone calls about my father’s ‘deteriorating’ condition,” Babu told IANS.

In a career spanning nearly half a century, Nagesh has acted in over 1,000 films mainly as a comedian. He often plays a bumbling nincompoop with a sad streak.

He was last seen in the Kamal Haasan starrer “Dasavatharam”.

In his five decade long career, Nagesh also rubbed shoulders with stalwarts like Sivaji Ganeshan, MGR, and Gemini Ganeshan.
