‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ star attacked by cousin after a drinking session
February 16th, 2011 - 9:16 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Feb 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The star of ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ – Paddy Doherty was attacked by his cousin after a drinking session, according to court reports.
The 51 years old Paddy and his 20 years old cousin Johnny Joyce were having a drinking binge in August 2010 when suddenly they started having an argument. Things unraveled quickly and soon the two of them were exchanging blows. As a result of the fight, Paddy suffered a broken jaw. Later Johnny said in his defense that he wasn’t fighting but was just defending himself. However since he was wearing heavy gold rings, so he mistakenly managed to knock Paddy out.
Brian Lawrence, of the prosecuting team said that, “The defendant became angry and assaulted Mr Doherty without warning, then started to land blow after blow on his head. Mr Doherty ended up on the floor while the defendant continued the assault, crouching down over him and punching him repeatedly to the head.”
Last week on the show, Paddy told the viewers about the gypsy way of life and also revealed to the viewers that the gypsies believed in taking care of any issues through fist fights.
