June 3, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Music maestro Illayaraja celebrated his 67th birthday in style on 2nd June. He received a grand party from the unit members of the film Kulasekaranum kulipadayanum, who gathered at the Prasad studios to celebrate his birthday.

Illayaraja attended the party himself and also cut the cake gifted by the organizers. Later, they distributed food to three orphanages and to the FEFSI workers.

But, the best gift received was from his son Karthick Raja, who arranged an exclusive on air show for his father on 92.7 BIG FM. Karthick had donned the role of a RJ for the first time just for his father.

Illayaraja has earned great honours for the Indian film music since the last 30 years. He is a great treasure for the country and a master in the folk, Carnatic and the Western Music. A gold medalist from the Trinity College of Music, London, Illayaraja has scored music for more than 4500 songs.

It was a special moment for 92.7 Big FM as Karthik Raja celebrated the day with them. The show included a collection of celeb interviews and some memorable moments between the father and son. The audience were also regaled with a sum up of the maestro’s life so far.

One of the lucky listeners of 92.7 Big FM, who shared his birthday with the maestro, got a chance to celebrate the day with Karthik Raja.

An elated Karthick shared his excitement saying, “I am hosting the show so that I can pay a tribute to the listeners of my father. I have never presented him such a special birthday gift ever before.”
