Music Icon Kris Kristofferson Wins The BMI Icon Award

kris1Nashville, Nov.12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) American singer and songwriter Kris Kristofferson was recognized recently at the 57th annual BMI Country Awards as he received the title of BMI Icon Award. The BMI country music awards was held on Tuesday evening at Music Row offices of the companyin Nashville, Tennessee.

Before the event commenced, the much acclaimed singer added that he was really honored to receive this unique award. At the same time, the multifaceted artist also emphasized that although he was really enjoying the honor bestowed on him but he was getting increasingly uneasy as he was not used to all the praiseworthy things that people were saying about him. The night turned out to be extremely emotional for the celebrated musician whose work is said to have inspired generations of musicians.

BMI is an performing right organization which organizes the BMI Awards to honor the musicians associated with the most performed country music in television and radio for the past one year. BMI awards is the oldest awards which aims to give recognition to the country’s celebrated music icons.The event which was attended by only invited audiences also witnessed the presence of a host of other musical celebrities and turned out to be a star studded event.

The 73 year old veteran musician over the years contributed immensely to country music and has achieved around 48 BMI Country and Pop Awards.Kris has also won multiple Grammy awards and is best known for songs such as “Help Me Make It Through the Night”, Me and Bobby McGee” and “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down”.
