MTV’s ‘Skins’ ‘loses’ fourth major sponsor
January 25th, 2011 - 2:05 pm ICT by ANINew York, Jan 25 (ANI): MTV’s new TV series ‘Skins’ has apparently lost its fourth major sponsor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, sandwich shop chain Subway has become the fourth major sponsor to pull its ads from MTV’s controversial series.
A representative said the chain “will not be advertising on [Monday night's] episode.” Its ads appeared on the show’s premiere last week.
Media watchdog group The Parents Television Council (PTC) called on lawmakers and law enforcement officials last week to open an investigation regarding possible child pornography on the series.
The show is based on the UK TV show of the same name, reports the New York Post.
Its “controversial plotline explores issues such as dysfunctional families, mental illness [including eating disorders], sexual orientation identity, substance abuse and death,” the show’s website says.(ANI)
