Los Angeles, Oct 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) It has been rumored for several months but now it is official. MTV has announced that the third season of “The City” has been canceled.

A spokesperson for MTV told the Hollywood Reporter that the show would not be airing for the third season.

The source further said “Whitney has been a part of our family for many years and we wish her and the cast the best, and hope to collaborate with them again” referring to the show’s star, Whitney Port.

Earlier on Monday, Whitney spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show. On the show, Whitney aid he was not sure the show was returning. She said that, “As of right now it doesn’t really look like we’re doing it anymore”.

“The City” has been fairly successful on the screen but the extraordinary success of MTV’s hit series “The Hills” has made “The City” a pal shadow in pale comparison with “The Hills”.

Lauren Conrad revealed earlier this month that she has already begun filming her second series with MTV. It is not clear if the show will be replaced with a new show on MTV.
