MTV Sets New Record With Premiere of ‘Jersey Shore’
January 13th, 2011 - 1:00 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonJan 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Thursday broadcast of ‘Jersey Shore’s’ season premiere took the ratings of ‘MTV’ through the roof, with a record breaking eight and a half million viewers watching, which made it the most watched telecast of a television series for all time on the ‘MTV’ network.
A report from ‘Entertainment Weekly’ revealed the news, as did Tweets from the cast of the show. Cast member Jenn, “J WOWW” Farley posted to her Twitter account, “OmG! Jersey Shore 3 broke Mtv records for reality show ratings last night!! 8.5 on the neilsen! Thank you to all” Nicole “Snooki Polizzi was also very excited, and Tweeted, “8.5 MILLION VIEWERS LAST NIGHT FOR JERSEY SHORE !!!!!! Love you guys!!!”
A press release from ‘MTV’ revealed that there were more viewers between the ages of twelve ot thirty four than any other television show which has aired this broadcast season. This did not include sporting events, such as WWE Wrestling, Football, or other sports, however.
