Jan 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) 2009 was a good year for Hollywood, with movies making good collection all over the world. It was the year for big films that met with huge success at the box office, be it the annual dose of Harry Potter or the highly acclaimed disaster film “2012″. The year particularly ended on a very high note, with ‘Sherlock Holmes” meeting huge success and the science fiction 3-D epic “Avatar” becoming one of the greatest hits of all time. The year 2010 brings with it a number of releases too, from the looks of it, more than the average count.

As usual, the biggest films slated to be released this year belong to the romantic comedy genre, like the hugely publicized “Its Complicated”, starring Meryl Streep. 2010 is also likely to see a return of the familiar characters on screen, including Harry Potter, who returns to weave his magic with the first part of the final film, “Harry Potter And the Deathly Hallows” sometime in November. July will see the return of Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart with “Eclipse”, the third installment of the “Twilight” saga. Robert Downey Jr. as “Iron Man 2″ will also be making a comeback, with a new enemy to fight.

The world’s favorite ogre will be back with “Shrek Forever After.” On the other hand, this year is also going to see a smattering of offbeat releases like “I Love You Philip Morris”, a movie to specially watch out for, starring Jim Carrey as a straight man who turns gay after a car accident. Other than these, there are also adaptations of “Alice In Wonderland” and “Robin Hood.”
