November 13, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Film: Skyline

The movie ‘Skyline’ is a sci-fi action thriller. The story is based on three friends who are on their way back from a great night party when they are suddenly confronted by an amazingly bright stream of light swooning onto them. As the terrified friends try to understand what exactly was going on, it is found out that the person who happens to look straight into the light would immediately get devoured by the light.

As the movie continues, it is unfolded that it is something like a UFO.Then the various adventures begin and scene after scene it is shown that efforts are made to get into the depth of the matter and try to save the human race from total destruction. The UFO had come to earth with a mission to destroy every person living on this planet with the help of the powerful light it emits!

The three friends are Eric Balfour as Jarrod, Scottie Thomson as Elaine and Donald Faison as Terry.

All in all the movie has some very impressive special effects as the director brothers are well known for their spectacular work in this area as was seen in their earlier movies ‘The Incredible Hunk’, ‘Terminator 3′ etc.

The basic idea of the movie is quite like the age old sci- fi film with extra terrestrial objects intruding into the Earth and the major upheaval caused thereafter. But despite that there is an element of something fresh and contemporary. A good watch for those who are science freaks out there!
